The Tiki House is a 1961 William Krisel classic, lovingly restored by Tracy Turco with the goal of transporting you to the South Pacific. 

Profiled in Atomic Ranch, Dwell and various TV shows, this is mid-century tiki-style to the max, featuring eye-popping burnt orange accompanied by a dash of chocolate, a squeeze of lemon yellow, and some maraschino cherry red on top. There’s no better place to sip an exotic cocktail, kick back and pray to the vacation gods.

The house is unmistakable thanks to its geometric yellow and orange tropical triangles that adorn the facade, while tiki totems greet you at the orange front doors that usher you into an entrance courtyard where orange overhead beams give the feeling of a Bali-style lanai on LSD.

Enter and you’ll see all the retro flair that’s been married up perfectly to modern conveniences, all within an explosion of colors, patterns and fabrics that deliver a totally tiki fun and retro vibe. Mid-Century treasures abound with an enviable collection of finds sourced from some of the local vintage markets, while art featured comes from luminaries such as Salvador Dali, Peter Max, Olan and Palm Springs’ own famous Shag.

The lounge features its unique pair of bright yellow sofas giving the feeling of sitting on a tropical beach, while “googly eye” wallpaper will make you feel like you’ve had too many Pina Coladas even before you’ve started to make yourself a cocktail! The kitchen comes straight out of the Brady Bunch with orange and green laminex leading the color charge, and of course there are plenty of tiki mugs to choose from.

Outdoors there are more tiki totems to keep the bad juju away, plus a tiki hut to get under and stay cool while avoiding the desert sun. Or else stretch out on the lounge with a Dark ’n’ Stormy, before you set sail for the heated pool and spa.
